Sunny Days

It's been very hot this week in Disley, and I have had to try and stay cool.  At Tammy's there is shade to lie out in by the fence.  She's started keeping the gate shut very tight because she said next door have got pet rabbits.  I'm not sure what the difference is between a pet rabbit and rabbit, except I saw them and pet rabbits are white not brown like normal rabbits and they live in little houses not in fields.  They probably need to live in little houses to stay clean because mud would show up more on their white fur.

On the way home from Tammy's I got hot in the sunshine so when I got home I asked if I could take my collar off because I was hot under the collar.  Louise thought that was very funny and she let me take it off.  It was much cooler after that.
No collar on
It was hot in the morning as well and I woke up early and needed to avail myself of the facilities, so I tried to wake Louise up because Dave had gone to work.  She wasn't very happy because it was very early, but it was very bright and so I was awake.  I stopped to look at the sunshine and Louise got cross because she wanted to go back to sleep.  We went to have a nap by the fan.

A quieter weekend this week

We're having a quieter week this week, last week we went to see Dave's mum and dad in a place called Corby.  Dave's niece's came to see us too, they're called Ciarrah and Holly.  They have lots and lots of energy like me and I got quite tired.  They are quite loud.

We went to a park and they fed the ducks.  I tried to explain that ducks are not always nice but they liked feeding them so I just kept an eye on them mean old ducks.

Dave likes spending time with the nieces.  They are very small and because Dave is very big they look even smaller, but even though their legs are very little we walked a long long way.
Walking with Holly
This weekend me and Louise are going to relax a lot.  Dave is driving buses a lot so I might be able to sleep on the bed (until he kicks me out when he gets home.)  I like relaxing with Louise because she likes sleep as much as I do.

The trick to a good dog welcome

Dave has had to work a lot this week, and I know he really misses me when I'm at work.  That's why I make sure I give him a really nice welcome.  I usually know when he's coming back, when he's been away for a long time it means he's coming back soon. I prepare by standing right where he can see me first, so he knows I've missed him too.  Sometimes I end up standing there a while but it's worth it.
Preparing for Dave's safe return
The door makes a big noise when it opens but I can see him walking up the path first because he wears a special bright jacket for driving the bus, probably so that other drivers can tell someone's definitely driving the bus.  The trick is to start wagging my tail as soon as I see him coming, so that I achieve maximum wagginess by the time he gets in.

Dave always gives me a big fuss when he sees me.  I know that he'd like to take me everywhere if he could.  I'm sure I could be very helpful on the buses collecting tickets or just customer service; making everyone smile, but Dave says his friend Boss doesn't employ dogs.  That's discrimination but what are you going to do?  I'll help from home by being really ready for my fuss.

Birthdays are confusing

Yesterday was Louise's birthday and today is Dave's birthday.  I am a big fan of birthdays as it usually means more food around but it's very confusing when there's so many together.  For Louise's birthday yesterday we went to the pub, which was not that unusual but it was very nice.  Dave let me sit on his lap because I like cuddles.  I'm not quite as sure about kisses but Dave was in a very good mood so I didn't mind.
Kisses with Dave, I think he was happy because of the beer
Lois was there too with Samuel, Stephen and Helen.  She was eating special crisps called prawn crackers which you get from a place that makes all the Chinese food for people in Disley.  I don't like prawns after this time I found something I thought would be yummy in the bin which turned out to be something called prawn curry, which is NOT a good food for dogs, but prawn crackers are nice.  I made sure Lois didn't make a mess by eating the crumbs.
Helping with the prawn crackers
Tonight we are going to see Martin at the White Lion and do something called a quiz.  He asks questions and we answer them.  I am easily the cleverest dog in Disley, being the only one that can write a dog blog, so I am quietly confident I will win without any help from Dave and Louise.

Another busy week for Disley's top dog

It's been a busy week.  Louise went somewhere called London at the beginning of the week and she sent pictures of a dog she saw on the train.  He was sitting on the seat, which is naughty, although I sit on the seats too.  He didn't look very happy, I don't know why, I like sitting on the seat.
Sad looking dog
When she got back she was quite tired so the next day we worked from home.  She said I could relax but it's only fair I help so I took care of her lap computer when she wasn't sat next to it.  She said she got a lot of emails.  They're like letters but they go through the air onto a computer.  I like emails better than normal mail, and if all letters were email the postman would never come, which wouldn't be a bad thing.
Reading emails from my home office
On Friday Louise was very hot and tired on the way home.  She gets poorly sometimes when she's too hot and tired so Helen came to pick me up and we all walked to get Louise a cold drink together.  I was hot and tired too and so I was a bit nervous that Millie was there, she pulls my tail sometimes and I don't like that when I'm hot.  I had a good look around then I could relax.
Checking for tail pullers
After Louise was rested I hung out with my friend Lois.  I'm helping her to learn to talk - she could say my name before Louise or Dave's.  The next words I'll be teaching her are biscuit, treat, bone and chews.  They're my favourites; that way she can make sure I have enough food.  Lois's favourite food is cheese, and I'm the only person she shares with.
Teaching Lois to say biscuit.  Bis - cuit.  Biscuit.

Ricky the famous Dog Blogger - Disley boy makes good

I've been talking to Louise about this blog.  It started when we were talking about dog food; we still have quite a lot left but Louise said I eat her out of house and home.  That confused me, because I am a very well behaved dog and would never chew the house (maybe shoes but not Dave's he gets cross.)  I said maybe I should be paying for my own food and suggested I get a job.  Louise wasn't sure there were jobs for dogs.

I think the thing I'm best at is being interesting and said I should be a professional dog writer.  Louise wasn't sure there was such a job but I think I'd be good.  There are lots of blogs out there about dogs.  I told Louise I'd learn to type but she wasn't keen on me using her lap computer.

I'm going to give it some thought.  Maybe there's a job especially for dogs to write.  I want to be a famous dog blogger.

Louise returns for another Bank Holiday in Disley

The bank gave everyone another day off last weekend, and Louise went away to see her family but Dave's friend Boss, who is usually pretty nice, wouldn't let him have the day off so I stayed behind to keep him company.  I went to play with Tammy for the day and we watched football at night.  It's called Match of the Day, but it's really lots of football games, they don't just pick their favourite which is probably why it goes on such a long time and Louise doesn't like it.  Dave said I could sleep on the bed if I wanted, but I know that Louise doesn't like me to so I didn't in case she found out.  She's very clever, she always seems to know that it's me that's been in the bin and not next door's cat like I make out.

When Louise got back she gave me a lot of fuss but I was pretty busy eating the yummy treat my friend Helen had got me, so she had to wait until the next day for my full attention.  She told me that one of the friends that she met has a daughter that reads my blog.  That's probably because I have such a good understanding of the world, if I wasn't me I'd read about me.  When I told Louise that she said not to be so cocky.  Being compared to a chicken is even worse than being compared to a cat, and so I decided to be quieter after that.

Chickens.  Me.  Very clear difference.

She was taking me for a walk, and we were all ready when she lost something called keys.  I think it's some kind of musical instrument from the noise it makes and I wasn't sure why she couldn't walk me until she found it.  I had my lead on ready to go, so I encouraged her by calling her and wagging my tail a lot.  Wagging nearly always works.  Eventually we found keys, and went to chase ducks.  Grrr, ducks.

Wagging.

After I showed the ducks in Disley who was the boss, I was pretty tired and I think Louise was too so we watched a bit of TV and Louise did some writing on her lap computer.  I had a bit of a nap.  Dave came home after all the people got off his bus which was nice.  He says he'll give me a long walk another day.  Although I don't have a favourite pet parent, he has longer legs, so I can't wait.
